Although disabilities are most times seen as impediments, there are many people who, in spite of these challenges, went ahead to become conquerors, achieving things that those that claim to be physically fit can only envisage in their dreams.

Roland is a Nigerian powerlifter who was among the team that made Nigeria proud at the Rio Games.

 His victory in Rio Games when he lifted 200kg in the Men's Powerlifting category threw him into the limelight.

He has won medals at Africa Games as well as the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where he won silver medals in men's 72kg. This happened before his success at Rio.

2. MOHAMMAD MUSTAPHA

As a blind graduate, Mohammad Mustapha stood little or no chance of employment, given the fact that the Nigerian employment weather has not been favorable to those with eyes, talkless of the blind.

But this obvious disadvantage did not deter him, as he appealed directly to the Governor of Bornu State while in a chat with the BBC. 

The Governor invited him to the government house in Maiduguri and they had a one-on-one talk.

He was subsequently employed following this meeting with the governor, getting a teaching job in a secondary school in the state.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Gombe State University.

The governor respects him for his effort and promised to give him every support he will ever desire.

3. YINKA AYEFELE

Yinka Ayefele is a Nigerian Gospel singer who lost his legs is a ghastly accident which left him with a damaged spinal chord.

The tragic accident did not put a stop to his successful music career, rather he took it as a life-changing incident, which spurred him on in life.

In1998, after the incidence, he released his first album 'bitter experience'. He is from Ekiti State and an ambassador of the State. He was awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011.

The duo of Amadou and Mariam is a great success story for anyone feeling like he/she is not capable of bringing about a change.

With music, this amazing blind couple has successfully continued to put smiles on the faces of their audiences and fans. They mix Mali's traditional music with rock and electro, Egyptian and Indian sounds.

The couple who lost their sights when they were teenagers grew up as normal children with an unusual love for music. Their physical challenge never discouraged them. They worked together and were able to achieve their goal in life.

Amadou was appointed the director of institutes musical department while Mariam excelled as the lead singer of its orchestra since then life was uphill for them.

5. COBHAMS ASUQUO

Cobhams is a Nigerian musician who was born blind. His talent is recognized in all regions of Nigeria despite his visual challenges.

He is an award-winning musician and producer who has broken records in Nigeria music industry as a musician and producer.

Cobham's greatest songs include; Glorious Deliverer; Angels All Around And Star of Wonder.

Despite her challenge, Madam Enyonam was able to become an internet sensation after she was caught by the camera teaching mathematics in a class holding her writing pen with her teeth.

Reports had it that the armless lady was writing on the board holding the pen with her teeth.

The lady is said to be a teacher at R/C Addo-Agyiri school, in Ghana.
